Shakespeare’s Hamlet was written at the very beginning of the 17th century, a period marked by a radical changes in the cultural atmosphere. Once again one set to observe the world with doubtful eyes and in spite of ceaseless intensive social-political upheavals the world still didn’t find firm ground. Hamlet strives to be a tragedy of vengeance; yet in a world that doubts the old order, such a tragedy doesn’t find its expression and place. Shakespeare writes Hamlet while obstructing the form of tragedy with human lowliness and buffoonery. Hamlet is deprived of a single action in focus; the text vacillates amid the dispersion of the eternally failed action. Hamlet is a poisonous scream, the expression of one’s innermost fear in front of one’s own inability to attain realisation in this world.

Hamletting is an event shaped as a carnivalesque confrontation of two performers, two individuals who carry out Shakespeare’s Hamlet with a full dose of mental sharpness and convulsive physicality – each for himself and one against another.
