The dangerous Carmichael, petty thieves Marilyn and Toby who want to sell him his cut-off palm, and the weird receptionist Mervyn meet in a squalid American motel in the middle of nowhere. Those four "bad guys”, each with a soft spot, begin revealing their odd secrets in the motel room. The action pulls us onto a violent merry-go-round of hatred, vengeance, desperation and hope, interlacing truth and lie … McDonagh enthrals us with his brilliant dialogues that are the intertwinement of sharp, politically incorrect, vulgar, and black humour. Cut-off extremities, a sensitive bully, frightened dealers tied to the radiator, a suitcase with disgusting content, a monkey lover, a dangerous philosophy-inclined receptionist, and much more in this brutally funny thriller.
