The Fisherman and His Soul is a fairy-tale on beauty, passion, wisdom, richness, and love. On the other hand, it is a tale in which beauty, passion, wisdom, richness, and love shine also in their cruel opposite, their demonic emergence.
The Fisherman falls in love with the Mermaid but he can marry her only if he gets rid of his soul since sea creatures have no soul. He therefore cuts his soul off of his body and launches himself into the depths of the sea empire. His soul, lonely and heartless, sets off for a journey … The allegorical fairy-tale directed by Ivan Peternelj preserves its original narrative structure. Yet through the power of words, the performing of three flexible performers, and the minimal but therefore more effective theatrical means, the story incarnates in front of us in an unquestionably theatrical appearance.
